Strawberry Apple Salsa with Cinnamon Crisps

Makes 5 servings

Fruit salsa is a refreshing snack for summer entertaining. Set out the salsa with a basket of Cinnamon Crisps and watch it disappear.

Ingredients

  Cinnamon Crisps  
small (8-inch/20 cm) flour tortillas
1 tbsp granulated sugar 15 mL
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 2 mL
     
  Strawberry Apple Salsa  
1 cup hulled strawberries 250 mL
medium tart apple, peeled and diced
2 tbsp liquid honey or brown sugar 25 mL
1/2 tsp grated orange zest (optional) 2 mL
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
  • Large nonstick baking sheet

Instructions

Step 1
Cinnamon Crisps: Brush tortillas with water; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Cut into wedges. Place on nonstick baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes or until golden and crisp.

Step 2
Strawberry Apple Salsa: In a medium bowl, mash strawberries; add apple, honey and, if using, orange zest. Stir to blend well. Serve with Cinnamon Crisps.

Tips

This salsa also makes a delicious topping for vanilla-flavored yogurt or pudding.
